Team-amu

The Institute of Radical Chemistry ICR is a Joint Research Unit under the tutorship of the University of Aix-Marseille and the National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS). Created on the 1st of January, 2012, ICR is attached to the Institute of Chemistry (INC) of the CNRS. From a scientific point of view, the creation of the UMR is the result of a strong will to bring together the complementary skills of research teams specialized in radical chemistry and to combine the expertise of two teams, focused on modeling methods (MQ and MM) and molecular or macromolecular characterization respectively.

Prof. Dr Hon. Causa Sylvain Marque

Sylvain Marque is the leader of the chemistry team which is in charge of the preparation of shift-nitroxides, the chemical corner stone of the project

Sylvain Marque defended his Ph.D. degree in 1996. He was appointed as Professor in Chemistry at Aix-Marseille University in 2008. From 2015 to 2018, he was leader of research group at Novosibirsk Institute of Organic Chemistry (SB RAS, Novosibirsk, Russia). Since several years, he promotes the concept of smart alkoxyamines for applications in Material Sciences and Biology. He co-authored more than 170 articles and was leader of national and international projects, and received Doctor Honoris Causa awards in 2018.

Prof. Gérard Audran

Gérard Audran is involved in organic chemist for the chemistry team in charge of the preparation of specific nitroxides, required for the project.

Gérard Audran defended his Ph.D. degree in 1995. He was appointed as Professor in Chemistry at Aix-Marseille University in 2009. Since 2015, he is the leader of CRAB team, which is involved in the synthesis of smart compounds for therapeutic and diagnostic applications. He develops the use of alkoxyamines as new radical drugs avoiding the drug resistance in malaria, in gliome cancer and bacteria disease and new nitroxide probes for imaging to detect early different diseases. Recently, he was involved in plasmon-assisted nitroxide-mediated polymerization (NMP).
